65m Aquarius Wins at the World Superyacht Awards

    “An almost jewel-like quality.”

That’s how Mark describes the handcrafted mahogany fiddles aboard Ouzel, a detail that captures his approach to the interior.

The owners wanted a yacht designed for life under sail, where comfort and practicality were just as important as the finer details.

The fiddles are a lovely example. Their carefully shaped edges help keep objects in place when the yacht heels, while thoughtfully positioned handholds and furniture make moving around on board safer and more comfortable.

Every detail has its purpose, however small.

    Some lovely news for Aquarius.

She has been named a finalist in the Best in Sail 40m+ category at the 2026 International Superyacht Society Design Awards.

This project has always been a particularly special one for Mark and the studio. To be invited back by the owners to further their vision allowed us to build on six years of life aboard the first yacht, with a very clear understanding of what worked, what was loved and what could be refined.

It also brought much of the original team back together, with Mark Whiteley Design working alongside @royalhuisman, @dykstranavalarchitects, owners’ project manager Godfrey Cray and Captain James Turner to develop the next Aquarius.

It is wonderful to see the yacht recognised once again. The ISS Design Award winners will be announced in Fort Lauderdale on 28 October.

A fabulous few days for Mark and the team at @monacoyachtshow! 🇲🇨

Collaboration is a huge part of what we do, so having so many clients, project partners and friends from across the industry in one place is always pretty special.

Lots of great conversations, familiar faces, new introductions and plenty of catching up along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who found time in very busy Monaco diaries to spend some of it with us. It was wonderful to see so many of you!

Until next time, Monaco. 🇲🇨

How do you improve on a yacht the owners already considered “nearly perfect”?

Royal Huisman has now revealed the full story of the new 65m Aquarius.

For Mark, the project was a rare opportunity to design for the same owners for a second time, building on six years of experience aboard the first Aquarius and a very clear understanding of what they wanted to retain, refine and develop.

The interior reinterprets the character of the original for a larger yacht, with Mark describing the result as “light classic contemporary” with hand-painted finishes, swietenia cabinetry, crisp joinery and classic proportions.

Just as importantly, it brought much of the original team back together - Royal Huisman, Dykstra Naval Architects, Godfrey Cray and Captain James Turner.

A second yacht shaped by a shared understanding of the owners, years of experience and close collaboration.

Wonderful to see the full story of Aquarius now being shared by @royalhuisman
